March,
2008:
Flyers'
trip
to
the
playoffs
helps
to
set
sights
for
next
season.
The
Flyers
first
trip
to
the
playoffs
was
an
eye
opening
experience
and
although
they
lost
out
in
three
straight
to
the
Medicine
Hat
Cubs,
the
positive
learning
experience
will
serve
this
young
club
well.
Already,
plans
are
underway
for
next
season
and
staff
and
Board
hirings
are
taking
place.
New
to
the
Board
room
is
Wally
Couey
who
has
volunteered
with
the
club
for
a
number
of
years
and
is
now
ready
to
take
the
next
step
with
the
team.
At
ice
level
the
coaching
staff
is
happy
to
be
bringing
on
Tycen
Durand
as
equipment
manager.
His
dad
played
for
the
Flyers'
Sr.
Men's
team
as
part
of
the
Ranchland
hockey
league
so
it
is
good
to
see
another
Durand
on
the
Flyers'
roster.
Tycen
is
an
avid
hockey
fan
and
is
excited
at
the
prospect
of
working
behind
the
bench.
Overall,
the
Flyers
met
their
goal
of
improving
their
offensive
performance
scoring
more
goals
than
they
did
last
year.
Their
goal
for
next
year
is
to
improve
their
back
end
with
the
return
of
rookie
goalie
Justin
Willimont,
who
improved
steadily
as
the
year
progressed.
The
Flyers
are
actively
seeking
strong
defensive
players
to
give
some
more
protection
on
the
back
end.
Flyers'
scouting
and
recruiting
will
be
working
hard
over
the
summer
to
bring
some
good
defensive
blood
into
camp
next
fall.
